Jon Bryant “Twenty Something”

Twenty Something album cover art

It did take me some time to get into Jon Bryant’s new album. Maybe I did not listen to it at the right time. The closing track “Trenches and Charms” is the strongest song of the album. The lyrics of that song are gorgeous (‘Am I dreaming too much or am I bending the truth?’) . It was that song that made me listen to the whole record again. And, sometimes, it’s a very good idea to not leave it at the first impression. Songs like “Visions” and “Light” have ambitious music arrangements that add up to the atmospheric feel of both tracks. Like its cover art, this album is like a walk on the beach on a grey morning. Melancholic, lonely, and thoughtful, but really nice.

Personal Favourite: Trenches and Charms
